Clam Tavern
About This Spot
Walking into Clam Tavern feels like stepping into a treasured neighborhood retreat where time slows just enough for you to settle in and savor the moment. Nestled in the heart of Clifton Heights, this seafood spot carries a nostalgia that’s both comforting and quietly lively—a place where familiar faces and fresh flavors meet under warm, softly glowing lights.
The atmosphere holds a gentle old-school charm, somewhere between a cozy local haunt and an inviting family table. The presence of a large fish tank upstairs adds a peaceful rhythm to the space, a subtle reminder of the sea’s bounty while diners chat and unwind. It’s an unhurried spot where the pace tends to ease off the day’s rush, encouraging you to enjoy good company as much as the food itself.
At Clam Tavern, the menu feels like a well-loved story told through the freshest catches and thoughtfully prepared classics. Whether you’re drawn to the satisfying richness of baked clams or the crisp snap of perfectly fried fish and chips, each bite connects you to the sea’s flavors without fuss. The lively bar area offers another layer of cozy, with friendly bartenders crafting drinks that fit the mood, from a perfectly stirred martini to a long pour that invites lingering conversation.
What makes the experience here is not just the food or the setting, but the heartfelt attention sprinkled throughout. Servers who know the menu like old friends, the gentle hum of conversations, and the dim glow that never feels too bright or too dark—these details quietly shape a space where locals and newcomers find a shared love for good seafood and even better moments.

This restaurant is simply awesome. Located in the heart of Delco you will find great seafood and steaks. There is a little bar off the right as you walk up where you check in. I always call with a reservation, as it does get busy. I prefer the seating upstairs where you can see the fishtank. This place has a old school atmosphere and is very comfortable. Clams casino to start with stuffed mushroom caps (crab imperial) and crab balls. My family always goes for the stuffed flounder or stuffed shirmp (the crab imperial is delicious) I like getting the Filet Mignon with crab imperial. They have great bake potatoes and frsh vegetable sides and good FF. We always have a great meal and a good time which keeps us coming back!

I went there (party of 3), first time on Sat 10/18/25- we were warmly greeted by the owner and staff. Our server Chantel (?) I think was very polite and knew the menu and specials like the back of her hand! We later learned she had been there over 10 years, off and on. Our drinks were perfect - grey martinis and Long Island Iced Tea!! Appetizers; Baked Clams and Manhattan Clam chowder arrived hot and delicious! Entrees portions were enough to share; Stuffed Shrimp w/very little filler, golden brown Fish n Chips and Chicken Parm! I will definitely returning for another wonderful evening! Great place for a great meal. (next time I’ll take pictures!)

Me and wife are not the biggest seafood fans but we wanted to try something different. We found this place on reddit as many people recommended it. I had surf and turf and my wife had the Mahi tuna. Both tasted amazing and the portion was just right. The price was, I suppose, average for seafood (which leans towards being pricey as they can be seasonal), but they usually have specials running that are very fairly priced. Service was fast and efficient. The owner, Tony, can be seen buzzing around the restaurant laughing and welcoming everyone that walks in. Atmosphere was cozy even by the bar with their high tables. They have bigger benches near the rear to sit bigger parties, but I dont know if i would bring more than 4 people at a time. Maybe 5? Great experience, good food, good people.

The Clam is one of the best restaurant experiences I’ve ever had. And, believe me, I get around. The lights are perfectly warm and always at the right dimness, the staff are friendly, and the food is just out of this world! My husband and I usually sit at the bar, but if you want a table, you should probably make a res. Between their pristine fish tank and their decor & neon at the bar, the place is just so wonderfully authentic, the owner clearly takes great pride in its appearance. Got a dirty martini and plan your culinary journey! I am a sucker for their chicken parm and it’s the best in Delco. No lie. Their signature baked clams are a must and they come on an adorable “one-of-a-kind” tray, so cute! Lemon ‘em up, slather your bread with butter, and go to town on this as an app. The shrimp lejon is no sleeper either. You really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. And if you can’t get in, go across the street to Broadway, where the atmosphere isn’t as good, but it’s almost the same kitchen. The Clam is worth the wait!

Great bartender. The baked clams are amazing. The fish and chips have the thickest and most flavorful fish I’ve ever had

Great little resaurant for seafood in the greater Philly area. Delicious! We ordered soft shell crab and crab imperial- so good! All crab in the crab imperial and the soft shell crab was superb.Make reservations and be patient waiting for food but you won’t be disappointed

Loved my date here! We made a reservation and were sat next to the fish tank. We ordered baked clams, seafood bisque, and the sea bass. We also got warm bread with butter. Delicious seafood and warm, friendly staff!! A Delco staple will be returning with friends.

Omg, the Clam Tavern amazing! The food did all the talking. You'll just have to come and taste the food and experience the atmosphere for yourself. I just don't have the words to describe how wonderful the Clam Tavern is.
